Junior Geologist Mining Adventure

It has taken my three and a half year old 4 days of on and off digging and wacking to get to 8 of the 11 stones. She really enjoys finding the little treasures . I could see this being much to easy for a child over 8. However it is a nice kit the hammer and goggles are a nice addition to the tool kit. Got a much better brush from another cheaper kit and our kit had no gemstone identification guide but overall great... would buy again and recommend

Ok I started reading reviews after I had already purchased and I was so nervous that my experience would be similar to the negative reviews I read but that was not the case. Let. Me. Tell. You. This dig is great and was a big hit at my daughters birthday party for kids as well as adults. The packaging was great as the block came wrapped in bubble wrap to protect it from breaking in transit. The block did not break apart easily and it took the kids a while to finally get he gemstones which was great. It kept them engaged and entertained. The gems were spread out nicely and were just beautiful. I got about 10 kits and all 10 had all of the gemstones in it. The googles were definitely small for the older kids but no one cared they were just happily to uncover their gems. The only thing I wish would have been included in each box is a little chart with all the gemstones names and pictures. I had to go online and print it out. Other than that, I would definitely purchase this product again and highly recommend it.

We homeschool and this was used in conjunction with our unit on minerals, etc. It is small, but there are real gemstones in what looks like a block (limestone, I think) that the child chisel out. I can't believe how much all of our kids loved this! It takes a little time to dig them all out (great patience and persistence lesson), but that kind of added to the fun. I got this for a 4 year old and a 9 year old and they both really loved it. Great gift!

My preschooler and husband had a lot of fun chiseling the brick and discovering the stones. They both love rocks so it was a fun activity to do together and now they have some new gemstones to add to their collection. My only feedback would be that the top of the chisel is very small which requires good coordination for kids to hit it with a hammer. Also, a little sad that all of the kits have the same stones so we can’t order more and expect to find new treasures.

My 6yr old nephew loves 1)breaking stuff and 2)finding buried 'treasure'. On a whim I thought this would be perfect for him & he'd enjoy it~and he *did*~but I was not prepared for it to be SUCH a huge hit!!! Even his 7yr old sister put her presents aside to follow her brother out to the backyard where he was already busily "excavating jewels"! SO CUTE!
Of course afterwards my sister ordered probably half a dozen similar kits because it was such a hit!
