Active Solar STEM System

This is an excellent real life model of our solar system. My children love to read information and questions about the solar system that come with the product. I also comes with a globe that represents the constellations and shines bright on the ceiling of a dark room. There is also a timer that will allow this to shut off on its own after a little while. Very sturdy and well made. Would definitely recommend this to anyone.

My daughter was so excited to see this fun Solar System in action! She quickly identified a couple of the planets - "Look! Here's Saturn! Jupiter! Uranus!" She stated it was the "best day ever" when we turned the lights out downstairs and watched the constellations light up the ceiling and walls. I can't wait to incorporate this product into our homeschooling.

I noticed it could be considered "flimsy" in the wrong hands. My daughter is generally careful with items, so I don't foresee it being an issue for us.

This is a toy- not exactly scientifically accurate or the most sturdy and we'll built- but it's more than sufficient. My 6 yr old is really into space and bought this with his own money and he loves it. It had held up just fine. The only thing, is that when I was putting it together I had trouble getting the batteries in just the right place so that it would work. I stuck a small piece of cardboard inside the battery compartment (hope that doesn't become a fire hazard!) In order to keep them nice and tight and now it works just fine.

This is a great learning tool to show kids the order general size of the planets, as well a the way they orbit the sun. Some things to note are:
1. This is not to scale (shouldn't be expected, it's only a model).
2. The planet clusters orbit at the same rate. All of the inner planets orbit at the same rate. All of the gas giants orbit at the same rate (slightly slower than that of the inner planets).
3. The planets do not rotate! This is the one thing I wish it did.
4. The constellations look pretty good in a small, dark place (we were in the pantry). It helps to keep the book handy so you can identify all of them.

Picture does not do this justice! My four year old is obsessed with the Solar System and Planets, so we ordered this as one of his Christmas gifts! It’s super easy to install but will take 4 AA batteries that are not included. The sun can easily be exchanged for the constellations that will show blue on the ceiling when the lights are off. The planets each orbit as the planets actually do including at each ones relative speed to the other. This is amazing and our son loves it!
