While they can be rather tricky for children to construct and maintain, the Ant Jungle Terrarium provides a readymade home for a colony of ants with a simple and straightforward maintenance. Watch as ants mill about in their daily life, constructing bridges and homes for themselves. The accompanying guide will teach your children how to be the best ant keeper. This kit can also be expanded for more colonies.

Our SmartKidsPlanet initiative began in 2017 when 3 geeky and dedicated parents saw a gap in the children’s toys and games market. An opportunity was spotted while we struggled to find toys and games for our kids which enriched their minds and guided them toward science, art, math and construction. The trio then knew that their paths were set, establishing an online shop with a comprehensive range of intelligent toys for babies, children and young teenagers.

With offices based in California, our SmartKidsPlanet team enjoys a daily growth in our presence within the children’s educational toys market. We love our new place in life, and we love helping young minds with their growth and skill development, all while having as much fun as possible.

Get it!

Got this for my husband as a little surprise. He loves it! We ripped out the plastic with the painting on it because it was too childish and it blocked a side view. The side plugs are very loose so we had to tape them down. The ants arrived today. They arrived a week from when I ordered them. Even though it was hotter outside than recommended for shipping, they still sent them. Some arrived dead but there are still plenty alive. I ordered two tubes of ants. The ants already started creating new tunnels. We’re really enjoying this!

Good teaching tool

You order the live Sugar Ants after the farm arrives Send/mail the ant-coupon included in the farm's instructions. Additionally cost for shipping.

I have purchased this long ago. My kids were fascinated for weeks. Just recently purchased this for grandchild. I am confident it will fascinate grandchild too once the ants arrive.
I also purchased an adorable book about a child interacting with an ant which teaches sweetness of even the least of creatures.

Do not feed bread

Our whole family is enjoying watching and learning about ants.
We fed them a bit of bread which I thought they’d eat. They ate most of it but buried some too. It wouldn’t be much of a problem except that you also have to add water for them; this caused the bread to get wet and mold :(
Now I am left figuring out how to clean it with the ants inside as well.

Great for kids and adults.

I bought 3 of these for my classroom and we love them. I glued the outside stoppers in position to prevent escapes. the ants knew what to do and the began to dig and travel from farm to farm within hours. The move constantly and they change the landscape all the time. Buy these, attach them together, and just watch. So cool.

Old classic, fine for what it is

For showing kids the coolness of ants digging tunnels, it's hard to beat an old fashioned ant farm. Please note that worker ants do NOT live long. In this case, the worker ants (SEPARATE PURCHASE!) were probably older workers from last year (since I got them in winter, during this species' "hibernation" season). Most have died after a month. But for what it is, this is fun and fine. NOTE: Suitable only for larger ants. Small ants will go right through the ventilation holes. Also, I didn't realize the top green "lid" is hard to seat correctly. It must be pressed ALL the way down and in exactly the right place. If you seriously want to keep queen ants and start a colony, these "ant farms" are not the best choice (very hard to feed/clean/etc), but if you just want to show kids the coolness of ants digging, this is fine. P.S. Oh, and as someone else said, the ants they send (Pogonomyrmex occidentalis) are FAMOUS for having a painful sting.
