Microscopic Mysteries of Science Kit

I bought this for my science-inclined 5-1/2 year old for Christmas. I opened it to set it up yesterday and was extremely impressed by the quality. It works very well! It came with a few slides and then several blank slides to do experiments with. The magnification works great!
I can't wait to do the expirments with him (I think an older child could do them on their own but he is only 5). It comes with a lot of extra tools too!
I bought a set of Learning Resources prepared slides to go with it and expand his set. I would definitely buy this again and would gift it to other kids in the family.

This was a cool gift for my science loving 8 year old daughter. My 3 yo also enjoyed looking once my 8yo adjusted each slide first. The other slides and pieces that come with the microscope have kept her busy and she still pulls this out several weeks later to look at things as she finds them. As an adult that has seen through an actual microscope, the quality is of course no where near as nice and resolution/focus is not that great... but at the price point it is as good as I would expect. Please note that not all settings will adjust clearly, but does offer a close (albeit slightly out of focus) view.

Had to try this Educational Insights Nancy B's science club microscope before giving it to my 7 year old. Totally cool. It comes with all the tools you need to become a little scientist. It also has an activity journal and 4 pre-setup slides with fun things to view like a peacock feather and goldfish scale. It's got 3 different magnifications and is really simple to setup and use. She is going to love it!
