Our SmartKidsPlanet initiative began in 2017 when 3 geeky and dedicated parents saw a gap in the children’s toys and games market. An opportunity was spotted while we struggled to find toys and games for our kids which enriched their minds and guided them toward science, art, math and construction. The trio then knew that their paths were set, establishing an online shop with a comprehensive range of intelligent toys for babies, children and young teenagers.

With offices based in California, our SmartKidsPlanet team enjoys a daily growth in our presence within the children’s educational toys market. We love our new place in life, and we love helping young minds with their growth and skill development, all while having as much fun as possible.

Great spark to ignite learning

My kids absolutely love this. Not only is it easy to learn and understand how a pottery wheel works, it comes with informative literature that helps young minds grasp the history and culture around it. The whole kit is presented in a polished and high quality way that only a brand like National Geographic could bring to life. My daughter has been making different projects out of it and has told us all kinds of interesting facts about it. I highly recommend it as a gift or just something to do with your kids on a rainy weekend.

Fun Kit - Works Well

My son had taken pottery classes after school and really enjoyed it. We ordered this National Geographic Kid۪s Pottery Wheel so we could also use at home. Its a great for older kids and easy to use for beginners. My son enjoys being able to make pottery at home. Definitely a fun and easy to use option.

The One Thing You NEED to Know When Ordering

So this turned out to be more fun of an experience for my Wife and I than we had expected. Though there's one thing you absolutely need to know, if you decide to order this. I'll explain what that is in a moment. But for now, I'll mention that we ordered this for our Little Girl, who had never actually seen pottery being made on a wheel before. Neither my Wife nor I had actually used one before. So this was going to be a learning experience for all of us.Thankfully, it's set up in such a way that newbies of any age can get the hang of it. What our Daughter seemed happiest about was that she's normally just limited to gifting relatives with drawings or paintings. But now she can make something that she feels is a little more "giftable."IF YOU DECIDE TO ORDER:I can't stress this enough. If you order this for your own child, or as a gift, consider ordering extra air dry clay from before you check out. You can get a five-pound bucket of Crayola white air dry clay for only thirteen bucks or so. That way you don't end up using all of the included clay, and have to drive to your nearest Hobby Lobby to buy the overpriced stuff. Plus it's Crayola, a name that parents have trusted with their kids for decades. I have reservations about buying off-brand clay from online, because you never really know if there are any weird extra chemicals or materials in it that shouldn't be there. One thing about parents, we don't take chances when it comes to the safety and well-being of our children. So the best route is to get the Crayola clay. Plus it's still less expensive than what you'll find at hobby and crafting stores. The price does seem a little bit steep, being totally truthful with you. But then again, no one else but National Geographic has managed to simplify pottery making for kids. So the set is admittedly not heavy duty, obviously. It's pretty basic, some might even see it as more of a novelty device than something for making art. But if it works, it works. And we don't really have any complaints. I can't speak for the parents that have been doing pottery themselves for years. I can only speak on behalf of parents that have never used a pottery wheel, and would like to have fun while bonding with their children as they all learn how to do it.
