This is pretty much the best toy EVER! my son is 19 months old, and a friend of ours had it at her house, and he played with it non-stop everytime we were there, so I got him one for our house. If you have learned to tune out the noise making toys, you won't mind this one. It sounds out each letter, and sings the wheels on the bus. Everything sticks to the fridge, and some do end up on the floor, because hey! a Toddler is playing with it, c'mon. We take that opportunity to learn about picking up, and putting them back on the fridge, like the 'clean up' song. Wonderful toy. Gift it for sure for a 1 year old birthday, great learning tool!!
My 18 month old immediately started enjoying this as soon as I took it out of the package! It’s a lot bigger than what I visioned in my head. I initially bought it because her grandmother bought an expansion pack of lowercase letters. I got this because it has the capital letters. But the lowercase do not fit in it... I just assumed they’d fit in there because I don’t know what else they could go in. Nonetheless, we are very excited about this toy because she is obsessed with magnets right now. Fun & educational for her!
My son is 16 months old and I bought these magnets for his Easter basket. He absolutely loves them. I was worried they would scratch the refrigerator, so I put them on our dishwasher instead. I shouldn't have worried - no scratches - even when he gets a little overzealous placing them on the magnetic surface (sometimes they do end up on our fridge). He really enjoys dancing to the songs and will pull his bench in front of the dishwasher to sit and play with these magnets. I am impressed with the phonetic software, as well. Leapfrog used a catchy tune to teach kids what sound each letter uses with one push. Push the magnet a second time and the bus uses the letter and sound in a sentence. Wonderful product.
A great product for new parents. Makes really cool gift for a skower or a first birthday.
Such a fun way for kids to learn phonics crucial for reading. The magnets stick to anything metal (but not stainless steel), as does the vehicle. Child puts a letter on the vehicle and it sings, naming the letter and it's sound: "The 'b' says buh, the 'b' says buh. Every letter makes a sound. The 'b' says buh!" For something that a parent will hear over and over, it's kind of cute, not really annoying.
To REALLY get the most out of this, it should be accompanied with the DVD (or whatever medium) of Leap Frog's "The Letter Factory."
I LOVE this toy. My daughter is 16 months old and has been playing with it for a few months. We're working on the ABCs with her and it teaches the letter, sound and sings songs. I bought this because she is still putting things in her mouth and the magnets are too large to swallow and they're housed inside the plastic letter so they can't come loose and be lost or swallowed. It occupies her for a little while while I cook. I taught her to move them from the fridge and put them on the dishwasher so that gets her moving from one end of the room to the other and keeps her occupied a bit longer. I love this product so much I would definitely buy this as a gift and I've told many parents about it.
