Perfect for kids who like science but are still a bit too heavy handed for a real microscope. Well made and stands up well to rough kid usage.
My little ones love science. This Digital Microscope is a great way to help them nurture that. It is a great tool to introduce kids into learning about cells and seeing what makes up the world around them. This microscope comes with eight double sided slides that show microscopic pictures as well as videos. There’s also little games that they can play to keep them from getting bored. There’s a lot to do and see with this digital microscope. The pictures are pretty clear and the sound is pretty good as well. Does require four AA batteries. Construction seems quite solid. A great gift for the little budding scientists.
Absolutely useable and really fun! Our 5 year old has been at it for hours now since unwrapping for Xmas this morning. Great educational toy for children and adults alike!
I think I am very qualified for this review based on several reasons:1. I or we (my son and I) have used it for a long time.2. I am a biologist and I have used cheap microscope (hundreds of dollars) to real high end microscope (confocal, 2 photon, close to half million dollars), so I know microscope.Key thing: this is amazing for kids who are interested in micrsocope and it is amazing easy but powerful. It serves as a great bridge for kids to transfer from toy microscope to professional microscope.I will talk about this from the following facts:Design: The color, material and size are perfect for school age kid. It is light but has enough weight to be stable on the table. so the kids won't knock it off easily! This is important because you don't want to ruin your samples and move it around for the target view field.User interface: Very friendly and has good logic. Kids can learn to use it within minutes.Power: I mean the magnification power. It really surprised me! In the very begining I thought as a toy, it maybe just a magnification glass. Actually it is not. It is very powerful. Also it has autofocus functions and can easily focus on the object.Education: A key feature beside all the strong points I mentioned above--- it has a menu with voice prompt so the kids can learn by themselves. Autofocus and picture capturing function makes it really handy. Since it has all the key features of microscope, so my son easily get to know what are the main parts of microscope etc.Fun: A lot of fun. Compared with professional microscope which you need to prepare tissue sections (e.g onion skin, thin tree leaves, etc), it is more like a dissection microscope and you can use it to observe a lot of things like a hair, your finger nail, a piece of cloth, just name it.Already recommend it to my friend with kids.Come on, 21st century is the century for biology and every YOUNG biologist needs a microscope and this is it!
I got this on impulse for my 7 year old. It has been his favorite gift and he has loved it! It is very easy to use he figured out how to work it completely with out any real help from me. It has a lot of features that he seems to really enjoy. He can snap pictures of things, he can creat me his own slides to examine, and it also has different games on the included slides. Overall this was an awesome purchase.
