Reading Journey Master Development

This set came highly recommended in a autism homeschooling group, so I took the plunge and bought it. I have yet to use this with my children, but will be using it along side The Reading Lesson.

Im a teacher and have many similar things I use for intervention in my classroom. As a mom to a 5 year who knows it all, Ive found this program to be helpful. She had no desire to learn from me with my materials, but this program is all her own.

So far my 4 year old has really enjoyed this program. She was showing an interest in learning to read so we tried 1 lessons to teach your child to read. While she got through the first few lessons fine, the more we went along with the program the more resistance I got. With this program she asks every day to do a lesson, and always looks forward to getting a new book to read. The lessons are a perfect length for her attention span and with no prep work needed , we are able to get through them daily.

My son and I have really enjoyed this curriculum so far. As a English teacher to junior high students who still struggle to read at even a 5th grade level, I really want to give my son the best head start on reading so that he will not be behind like so many of my students are. Before starting this reading system, my son knew most of his letters and the sounds, but he struggled with identifying and giving the letter sound for 9 letters.

We are a few lessons in and I can already tell how much more my son is retaining, compared to his previous curriculum. And hes actually loving reading time now! Where before it was a horrible struggle! Its simple, it takes only 15 minutes, and he enjoys the songs. Even my 3 year old listens to the lessons and participates with singing the songs. Which is a win, win in my book!
