Colorful Rainbow STEM Science Kit

This is my daughter’s favorite Christmas gift. She has been “playing” with it non-stop since she unwrapped it. Yes, you do need some household items (glue, cooking oil, salt, etc), but the added cost is minimal.

It’s also a set she can use with minimal help from an adult. All I’ve had to do so far (after 9 experiments) is pour some cooking oil and tear off some sheets of paper towel. It’s nice to see her take the initiative and want to try it on her own.

Love this! Bought for our 7 year old's bday. It is wonderful. Has everything to do most of the experiments. You can do everything, but you can do even more or just different if you add some additional items you probably have around your house. I will be looking to buy replacement items we have already used and I will buy this for future birthday presents.

In the interest of objectivity the “50 experiments” is a little misleading. For example you make glow worms in one but the next “experiment” is to leave them out to see what happens.
But I love that no matter what you do whether it’s mixing colors or making a volcano you’re given the scientific explanation of what is happening.

I am revising the star rating from 4 to 5. The main reason is that the kids are still just in love playing “science”. The directions have been thrown out and they just go to town and are completely entertained. Both the 4 and 8 year old are in love. Complete imagination takes over and it’s lovely.

Have newspaper, paper towels, and towels around...don’t worry, it’s worth it and I have yet to suffer a serious stain.

This set is supposed to be for ages 7 and up, but we got it to do with our 3 year old. Age is just a number, after all. He couldn't do any of the experiments independently, but even at his young age, he was able to assist and stay involved. His favorite experiment by far was the volcano. The set comes with modeling clay to form a volcano around a hollow tube. He loved doing this. Then he got to paint the volcano. And finally, we put in a fizzy tab and water, and it erupted! He repeated this dozens of time, and for the next few days kept asking to make more eruptions. The set came with enough fizzy tabs for 6 repetitions. After that, we used baking soda and vinegar instead. We kept erupting, and erupting, and erupting. He loved it. He painted the volcano multiple times.
