Deluxe Combo Geology & Chemistry Science Kit

I love crystals. I bought two different ones. I found that they can be a bit messy when they sit to form. I put a hard plastic package from something else and put the cups inside. DIRECTIONS MUST BE FOLLWED TO A T. I thought my water was hot enough when I boiled my water on my hot plate. I discovered I wasted the smaller kit. I then boiled a big pot of water on a regular stove. They were still a bit messy. But they came out beautifully. I gave some of the crystals to family and friends. I will buy another to make more. Best made during warmer temps outside. They must stay at a warmer temps. When purchased for a child or grandchild ADULT SUPERVISION IS A MUST. I originally purchased this for my grandson. I might do it with them in my home. ENJOY WATCHING THEM.

Santa brought this to advanced 6 and 8 year olds. Their father a professor facilitated the experiment with each. The 8 year old was extremely interested the 6 year old was more interested in keeping up with the older. The results take a week as published. Very satisfied with those. The crystals are extremely fragile but impressive. The results are approximately a 2X2 crystal in a plastic container.

Excellent product. Your child will definitely will need help and supervision. My granddaughter was very excited as she watch the crystals forming for a period of seven days. There is enough material to repeat the experiment a few more times at a later time after the first and second set. She placed the crystals in their individual display clear boxes once they were washed. Very educational. There were lots of questions and answers going back and forth about the crystals. We did online research which she enjoyed. She is only 5 yrs old and was able to follow the instructions. A great bonding and fun educational moment.

Another toy thats more for parent (mommy me!) than kids. I had alot of fun preparing everything including reading through pretty lengthy instruction. My son, whos four, enjoyed my instruction, which was a condensed version after i read the entire thing. He really likes this especially the daily monitoring and see how the crystal grow each day. He took daily pictures for the progres. For the darker colored crystals that you cant see the crystal itself, we lit a flashlight underneath the container. That kinda gave a different way of looking at it. Overall we both enjoyed it and as a parent, this would be the gift i rather receive than toys, other than lego of course.

My oldest loves to grow crystals, and has had probably had around 6 different kits gifted to him for his birthday and christmas the past year. And this set is the best one; which makes me happy cause it was santa's gift to him and I just got lucky that it was the best one. The crystals are LARGE and easy to grow and don't glow in the dark, which is annoying with some of the kits as its distracting at night when he's trying to sleep. We also haven't managed to break any of them while displaying them, like the other sets. But the main thing is, they are large crystals, the other sets are so small that while interesting, kids like big crystals, its way more fun :) If you're between different sets, get this one, it is the best one out there right now.
