Forest Chess Set

My teenage granddaughter requested a chess set and I looked through my , many sets before I chose this one and it has exceeded my expectations.
Considering the prices of chess sets, this is a remarkable buy for the money. Although the box is not heavy wood, it is quite nice and the pieces are very nice.I know my granddaughter will be proud to carry .t with her.
The company also send a pdf chess book via email after the set arrived and generously offers to replace any pieces that go missing. I am impressed.

Got this for my 6-yr-old twin grandsons to start them on chess. Great set. All stores away with little straps to hold each piece so it is crystal clear if you are missing a piece before you close and lock the box. We haven't travelled with it, but it would work well to travel with I think. The wood is nice and downright excellent for the price.

The only downside is that the pieces are not as weighty as I would like. For kids they do tend to fall over a bit so in hind sight I think a full-size 3.75" King set would be better for young beginners.

But this is a nice quality set for the cost. And it keeps the pieces well (not a small feat with kids). And it looks nice on the table.

I got a lot of presents for my boyfriend’s birthday, and arranged them all in assorted gift bags for his arrival home after work the night before the big day. I gathered an impromptu surprise get-together for the homecoming, and, once he arrived, I had him open the crowd-friendly gifts. I had gotten 6-7 different portable games, intended for use on our lovely roof deck - the social center of our building. Of all the presents he opened, this was by far his favorite! He loves chess, and needed a nice, portable set that he can take to play with friends, either on the roof, or at the local watering hole. He was thrilled with the smooth, wooden board, and loved that the pieces are securely stored inside. He said he has a little magnetic travel set that he got overseas, but is so glad he has a more presentable set for playing with friends in person (as opposed to via phone app). The pieces themselves are nicely carved and finished. I even got a post purchase e-mail from the seller, informing me that they will happily send replacement pieces should any ever be lost. All around great purchase, a perfect gift for any avid chess-lover, or beginners who need a portable set to take to, say, the park or a friend’s place to play.

This chess set is exactly what I was looking for as I would like to begin a long distance chess relationship with my 6 year old grandson as he lives in California and I reside in Minnesota.
I am sending him the set since it is such a great beginner set and hopefully he will not only like having his own chess set, he will also fall in love with the game of chess!
Since my grandson is obviously just learning the game, I wanted a set that was easy to use, not plastic or cheap looking! I am not a fan of online shopping so I am ALWAYS a little apprehensive when ordering something from a picture but I was so pleased when I opened the box and it was exactly what I hoped it would be!
I even love the outside box it comes in--so classy!!
As a side note, I would also like to mention that the customer service is exceptional! I received an e-mail from an actual person--not a robot!--to make sure I was satisfied with their product and they even included a chess manual to download!

I needed a set to play with my granddaughter, nothing fancy but not cheap looking either. After reading the reviews, I thought I'd take a chance. So I ordered this one and was very pleased with what arrived. Yes, if I knit-picked, I could say that one of the felt pieces on the bottom of the Bishop was not completely glued down (a small part was folded under so didn't get glued---so easy to fix) and if I looked really hard, I bet there are other slight imperfections, it is a pretty good, real wood, set with a felt liner to the box. The board opens to a flat surface (also real wood) and I can't find anything wrong with the case. All in all, I am completely satisfied and will get lots of use out of it I am sure. I would recommend it if you want something nice and simple that will store your pieces nicely and is made well.
