Learn America With Keycards

My 5th grader has a states and capitals quiz, weekly and we go tired of doing flash cards after the first week, so I purchased these to help with studying. Not only does it show the location of the state within the U.S., but it also has a separate set within the box of cards that gives facts about the states. There are many ways to study for the test with this set of study cards. We are very pleased.

My 6 year old has officially learned all the states by name, capitals, abbreviations, and it's location on the map. It only took a couple of weeks to do so. He is currently working on learning a few facts about each. This was so fun to "play". We made it a family challenge. I used this in conjunction with the USA wall map in each of their rooms. Before I knew it my kids were correcting me, and completely shocking their teachers and friends.

We are homeschooling our 3 boys (13,10 &8) because of the pandemic and were kinda shocked at their lack of basic geography for our own country. And not one of them can tell me more than 5 state capitals. So we're teaching this ourselves.

I bought these as part of the required school supply list for my daughter. We are to use them at home for practice. The first time we used them was a fun time for the whole family. Even my husband and I had a good time trying to remember all of the states by and the capital of each one. I think they will be fantastic for using to quiz my daughter during the year as they learn their states and capitals. There is more than one card for each state. One set of cards has the state pictured and where it is on the map of the US and on the back it has the name and capital. The other set included has a picture of the state and the state flag, and on the back is a list of state facts. Nice quality cards that should last for a long time as long as we take care of them.

These cards contain a lot of information that can be learned by anyone at any pace. The basics start with the names and abbreviations of the States. Next perhaps are the capitals, each State's location on the map, the State flags, the State bird, State Tree, etc. Make a game out of it while learning by yourself or with the kids - e.g. How many States begin with the letter A? (four). How many States begin with the letter B? (none). When did the State became part of U.S.? What are US territories? Sure, all the information can be easily found online, but this set of flash cards undoubtedly is making learning more fun.
