Mega Ant STEM Settlement

No ants have escaped! Although, you should not put small ants in it, because they will escape. The type of ants you get from this company (which you have to send in for) are the perfect size.Our first shipment of ants froze because my husband didn't bring the mail inand it was 28 F outside. We just got a refill package (50 ants) and they are doing well.

My son loved it ! He's 3 and was thrilled to get it put together.

So the amount of fun trajectory for my 3.5 & 6 yo girls was max 110% for the first 48-72 hr. Then about 20% for 4-5 more days. Then the poor ants, work as they may, could hardly draw their attention for the remaining 5 weeks. The slow decline of the army and watching fewer and fewer survivors being inundated with the management of bodies was a bit disheartening. So maybe it was good they weren۪t paying attention anymore. I got this instead of a bird or a caged rodent thinking they۪d learn something about care and feeding but the ants (blessedly) take next to zero effort a drop of water and a pin head size crumb of practically any food once every three days۝. So this project may be absolutely perfect or a complete bust depending what you۪re in it for. The ant house itself is durable/well constructed/easy viewing. Whatever I expected.

Covid-19 lock-down entertainment. The fun started with awaiting the truck and notification it was delivered. Then we got another farm bc we were such bored nerds and literally watched them for hours. Much better than the gel. We started with gel and the ants must۪ve been in a union bc they sucked. Did no physical labor. Literally just hung out on the top of the gel. Old time fun!
