This was one of the first toys our son showed interest in as an infant. He is now 18 mo old and still plays with it... now, he presses the button and dances along with the music. It's also very convenient because you can bring it into the car and it entertains kids on car rides, even at night because it lights up to the music.Update: We are on child #2 and this toy is still going strong after 2.5 years (although the sticker is finally wearing off). Our second child is 4 months old and we use it in the car to calm him when he is crying. He likes the music and the colorful lights.
We bought this in 2013, and it's still going strong. It has survived being dropped, either onto the floor or down the stairs, too many times to keep track of.The only thing I don't like is the order of the power switch. It goes from off, to quiet, to loud, and it's really easy to push too hard and skip the quiet level. Especially for tiny hands. I would have preferred off, loud, then quiet because another thing is that the loud level definitely lives up to the definition! My kids now just like to listen to the music, but when they were babies, they loved the lights and chewing on it as well.
When I nannied 6 years ago, this was the baby's favorite toy. It always made her stop crying. So when I was expecting my own baby, I remembered this toy and knew I needed one. Sure enough, my 4-month-old loves it. He just stares at the flashing lights and it calms him immediately. It's small and portable so I always make sure it's in the diaper bag. I just bought another one so I can make sure we always have one nearby. The new one I received is different than the one I bought last year. See photo. The old one is on the left and the new one on the right. I prefer the old design. The new version seems a little cheaper and has different songs. Luckily my son is too young to know the difference but I’m disappointed that they’re different.
It has a very pleasant sound - the tunes are classic..! My baby loves to bite it - I will place pics of it when it was totally new and now... The only thing I'd change- it's that paper sticker - watch the pictures I've added- the kid just bite the paper and it doesn't look nice.. but it's ok- the toy works - that's the main thing for me)) I just love it, wanna buy more and more of Einstein toys for my angel.
The baby's grandmother got her this toy as a Valentine's Day gift (the baby was around 14 weeks old), and she was immediately mesmerized. she loved having a "screen" of her own to look at, loved the music and the bright lights. As an adult I like it because it plays classical music and displays the notes; for the mom of a baby who has an affinity for music already, it is great. The tones of the music are also not jarring, tinny, or cheap-sounding. It's not a piano or a symphony, but the tones are almost soothing. But here is the #1 reason why this product got 5 stars from me (and from the baby): before this toy, my baby hated tummy time. She would cry through it and we couldn't bear to go through with it. She is still too young to press the buttons regularly although she is starting to understand the cause and effect when mommy takes baby's finger and presses the big, easily pressed button for her, and she can hit it a few times, but for tummy time we turn it on for her. She loves looking at the screen to distract her from exercise--almost like watching TV while running the treadmill! The music and the lights motivate her, and thanks to this toy our baby was able to exercise enough to roll on her back on the first try! I just wish Baby Einstein made more of these with different tunes so we could play more of them while she does Tummy Time. No other toy has distracted her or kept her entertained during tummy time like this one!
