The kit was well packaged,. It took me and my kid a couple of hours to put together. The kit does not have any lubricant included, luckly I had some extra lube from my r/c cars. The robot works perfectly and my kids have been playing with it everyday.
Excelente producto!!! Y excelente garantías!!!
Buena calidad de materiales, excelente ensamble, motor más potente.Diferencia con el primer envío q no funcionó!
I'm very surprised by this little robot. The assembly was not too hard, the instructions are easy to follow.Excellent project for kids.
I've bought cheap, imported robot/STEM kits before that were a nightmare to assemble, mainly due to poor instructions. I'm happy to report that Elenco sets the gold standard for assembly instructions! The instructions are clear, concise, and go out of their way to make sure you don't assemble parts incorrectly. There are multiple callouts in the instructions showing you the right/wrong way to assemble parts, and it's super helpful. This robot is amazingly well designed and fairly intricate to assemble, but worth the effort. I helped my 9 yr old son build this kit, we had a blast, and made a few "us" mistakes along the way, where our blunders were easily correctable just by backing up a step and paying close attention to the instructions. The robot is all plastic, where self-tapping screws are used for the main body elements and to keep everything solidly in place. Just be careful not to over-tighten the screws so you don't strip out the plastic. At one point, we had to remove some screws and partially disassemble the robot because we didn't follow the instructions correctly (our fault, not the instructions). Regardless, the screws went back in fine and didn't strip out; again, just put the screws in firmly and don't over-tighten.The robot has two functional modes: Follow Me and Explore. In Follow Me mode, it will follow your hand or anything roughly hand-sized that is roughly 6 to 8 inches in front of the robot. If you put your hand any closer to the robot, it will back up. In Explore mode, the robot will just keep walking until it gets near an obstacle, then it will do "obstacle avoidance" and head off in a random direction. It also has a power saving feature where it will auto power-off after a minute if you're in Follow Me mode and it detects not activity after 60 seconds, so it's great for saving battery life. We powered our robot with four NiMh AAA rechargeable batteries and it works great. The IR sensors in the robot uses are tuned to detect something about the size of a hand, so if it's walking in Explore mode and encounters smaller structures (like a chair leg), it may not avoid those kinds of obstacles.Overall, this kit was really fun to build, though it is a touch complex in parts, but again the instructions really save the day. These are some of the best assembly instructions I've ever seen, so good on your Elenco!
