Serious Science STEM Pack

The microscope description says its a kids beginner scope, and on the box it says its for ages 8+ I bought it for someones 59th birthday and they are thrilled with it. It will do everything a beginner needs to do. I didn't pay the higher price for one that comes with magazine and flash cards. I figure he can youtube it and find out anything he might want to know, that and/or google. He is hard to shop for but he liked this gift. I know better now, only gifts that can be called a tool. I think I might send one to a 13 and an 8 year old year old for Christmas or birthday. It makes a great gift for science beginners.

Excellent buy. Although the kit itself is made very cheaply, the telescope is quite handy and kids can learn a variety of different types of things from using it! I'd recommend getting another set of prepared slides, however, and extra blank slides so that they can create their own 'experiences' and hypothesis.

This was the perfect beginner microscope for my daughter! It is a bit finicky to focus with only a course adjustment knob, but it still works great! For 40 dollars, I definitely recommend. I work in a molecular biology lab, so I am comfortable with microscopes. I think the negative reviews might be because of inexperience and lack of manual. If you are familiar with focusing a microscope, this is a perfect buy! (Picture is of a prepared slide of an onion epidermis)

This beginner set is wonderful! Our second-grader absolutely loves science, and we want to foster that love as much as we can. Who wouldn't want their own microscope?! This microscope works quite well, and our 7-year-old finds it easy to operate/use. My husband and I enjoy using it equally as much! It's fun to experiment with making our own slides, as well as using the pre-prepared slides that came with the set. You can buy more pre-made slides from the same company for a decent price, which we've done. I definitely recommend this microscope.

What can i say this kit is actually really impressive for its price and its functionality.Not extremely crisp on the under scope picture , but i am truly amazed on how fun this kit is. works really well and might need to get some experience focusing it and getting the right filters under the microscope.just one last thing to add to this review... when you get this microscope and figure how to make the light work, sometimes when you use the light it can get too glarey at times, quick tip just slowly turn the light away from the focus of the lens. that should take care of the glare
