Snapping Math STEManta Ray

My son (2nd grade) does not like competition and is not very fond of math. During summer, I needed to make sure he keeps up some minimal math practice and bought this Math shark. He played with it for 3 min once it arrived and then put it away. About 2 weeks later, I challenged him to do one of several tasks one of which was to do additions and subtractions tests and see how long it takes which he did. Next day he did again to compare the results. Now he does two tests every day (one per skill) and trying to beat his own time without me nagging him to do any math. Goal accomplished!

My daughter has only had this toy for a few weeks, but it was so fast at teaching, she memorized half the third grade time tables in one afternoon! It is awesome!
A reviewer complained that that you cannot change the contrast but you can. Just read the users manual. Another reviewer complained that if you make a mistake it will not show you the correct answer, but it does...right before it changes to the next problem it will display the correct answer for about two seconds. The problem will then recycle into the end of the game.

The math shark, surprisingly, is a hit with my daughter. She's 7 years old knows how to do multiplication but hasn't mastered all the factors. She likes the speed drill by skills and levels and use the calculator functions for accumulating points for dominoes and poker games.

This device seems like a better version of the Multiplication Master. My older child is ASD and this is a lot easier on him. He likes having volume on his "games" but not too loud. This game checks that box. He also can not do games with timer components. The Multiplication Master device has a timer countdown that I can't turn off and he gets riled up from the anxiety.

I bought six and used these for several years with my third graders and made a data sheet for multiplication where they could record their time. When they reached my time goal for them individually in Level 2, they could go on to the next number to practice. When they reached all the goals for level 2, they were able to go to level three.I repeated this for division and all my students were ready for fourth grade with solid fact knowledge.
